Forbes Examines Why WWE is Launching the Network in February, Says WWE is In Control of Broadcast Contracts

WWE NetworkForbes.com has published a new article covering the announcement of the WWE Network last night, and the article notes one of the main reasons why WWE is launching the Network on February 24th is to gain leverage in the company's ongoing TV rights fees negotiations.

With the creation of the Network, WWE now has a home away from TV to broadcast company programming, which creates valuable leverage when negotiating with other networks that currently air WWE shows like Raw and Smackdown.

Additionally, launching the Network in time for WrestleMania 30, and including the PPV in the network package, is also an attractive selling point.

The Forbes article also pointed out that Monday's Old School Raw took in 4.5 million viewers, and if WWE can get 4 million people to subscribe to the new Network, WWE can generate as much revenue as the entire company made in 2012.
