Complete Details on WWE 2K14 Following Today’s “Universe Mode” Live Stream

Today 2K Sports held a live stream of WWE 2K14 to show off the changes and enhancements made to this year's "Universe Mode".

For those who may be new to the series, Universe Mode is akin to WWE's version of an overhauled exhibition, where you can set up random matches and play as whoever you like, using all the various rules, gimmicks or stipulations included in the game. However, in Universe Mode the computer will automatically create rivalries, teams and scenarios to make the gameplay feel more like normal WWE television programming. You will see interference in matches, post or pre-match attacks, team-ups and more play out. You can, of course, turn these things off manually, and past games have given the user almost complete control to edit matches, rosters, factions and more.

Below are some of the changes and additions made to Universe Mode for WWE 2K14.

-You can now edit rivalries, including how many weeks each rivlary will take place for.

-There is a "WWE.com" menu that allows the user to see each rivalry, both on a week-to-week basis, and in more detail showing the entire course of the rivalry.

-Another small new feature to Universe Mode is the ability to choose which attires you want various Superstars to wear during their rivalries.

-There are several "PPV Themes" that can be added to the various pay-per-view events in Universe Mode. The King of the Ring was available in WWE '13, but not usable in the Universe Mode.

  • King of the Ring: a King of the Ring tournament will be held
  • No Man's Land: main events contested in cage/cell matches
  • Breaking Point: main event will be a submission or "I Quit" match
  • Outnumbered: "Matches with multiple competitors will sometimes take place"
  • Endurance: main event will be a Last Man Standing or Iron Man Match
  • TLC
  • Hell in a Cell
  • Inferno
  • Survivor Series

A match between Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton for the WWE Championship was shown off as one of the custom rivalries the hosts created. Below are a few of the cool new features that took place in the actual match.

  • Daniel Bryan used a "catapult finisher", tossing Orton into the air and catches him with the YES! Lock.
  • Randy Orton used an RKO off the ladder
  • Randy Orton used a DDT on the apron
  • Bryan finished a match using his new running knee finisher

-Universe Mode now allows you to set the Divas Championship as your "Major Title", so that it will be defended in main events. This also allows the user to create an all-Divas show.

-You can now edit how many matches will be on each show, in order to make minor shows shorter, or major shows longer.
