Rob Van Dam Talks About Creativity in Wrestling; WCW Wanted to Create an Entire Team of Mortal Kombat Characters?

Rob Van damA new interview with returning WWE Superstar Rob Van Dam has been released by Wrestle Talk TV. The "Whole F'n Show" is set to make his highly anticipated return to WWE pay-per-view this weekend at Money in the Bank. His return match will be a fitting one, as Mr. Pay-Per-View competes in the events' namesake contest; a match he's won before, on his way to becoming WWE Champion. The high flying ladder match will be a great fit for Van Dam's creativity in the ring, which he talks about at length.

"I thought outside the box, as I do out of the ring. I take pride in my individuality, and I also try to motivate other people to do that as well … I never wanted to try and take another wrestler's spot, or be like another wrestler. I wanted to come up with moves that I hadn't seen before. Before my first match I was like, 'I wonder if I can jump up and do a split, and land on the corner of the top rope, and then flip back off my legs and land on my opponent.' I'd never seen it, but I saw it [in my head]."

Van Dam will be returning to the WWE for the first time since 2007, but he's had some offers throughout his career that he didn't think were worth investing in, including a pretty hilarious story about a WCW proposal.

"I've had some offers that didn't sound too appealing. When I was in ECW defending the television title, I had an offer from WCW. But they wanted to turn me into a Mortal Kombat character. Which they did – Glacier – the hardcore fans might remember. That could have been me if I hadn't said 'no'. Even after they made Glacier they said 'it's O.K. we're gonna make a whole bunch of them. We're gonna make a big group of Mortal Kombat guys, and you'll have mask.'"

One of the many feuds wrestling fans are asking for upon Van Dam's return is a face-to-face with the monstrous Ryback, who has worn very similar wrestling gear in the past. RVD speaks on Ryback and answers the popular question.

"The same guy that air brushes my outfits air brushes his. It's always been the same guy [that paint's my outfits] … He's always turned down guys, but for whatever reason Ryback appealed to him. He liked him, and he wanted to help him out. [Ryback] also reached out to me, and I haven't met him but I got a message from him, making sure that he had my blessing."
