WrestleMania 29

Live, On-Site WZ Updates from WrestleMania 29 at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey

As has been widely reported, WWE’s online stream has been suffering from significant technical difficulties. As a sampling of some of the emails that Wrestlezone has received on this issue, see below:

Just figured I’d submit that WWE’s entire online PPV service went down shortly after Wrestlemania started, right after the NY/NJ intro video – not just the stream, but even the ability to login & see purchases. That finally came back up about 45 min to the show, but the stream is still not working 1 hour & a half into the show.

It’s also worth noting that the quality of the stream is/was horrible – it’s like YouTube’s minimum quality (240p), which would be bad even on a cell phone. And whatever software they’re using (Microsoft Silverlight-based, as opposed to Flash), blew up to full screen in a pixelated way (as opposed to blending/interpolating it), so it looked like an early 80s video game when it was working.

It’s really sad, b/c I found a working illegal live stream in about 5 minutes, and it’s quality is waaaaaaaay better than WWE’s official stream, even before the weird full screen distortion (which the illegal stream also didn’t have). This is pathetic, I can’t believe I wasted $60 on a stream that doesn’t even work, and is so low quality that they shouldn’t be charging for it anyway.

I’m not sure if I’m going to pursue getting a refund (since I’m watching the illegal stream), but I think most other people trying to watch it and not being able to should. I don’t have TV service so this is the only option I had for PPV, and I think I’m not alone.

*** The crowd reportedly was dead for most of the HHH/Lesnar match, but popped huge for the finish.

After the PPV went off the air the show concluded and there were no post-PPV happenings.
