WWE To Reveal New Distribution Platform, How Much Control Do Superstars Have Over Twitter?

John CenaThanks to Kat Alrige for sending in the following notes from Stephanie McMahon and John Cena's South by Southwest appearance:

During the South by Southwest event this weekend, John Cena and Stephanie McMahon spoke at length about WWE's social media platforms and outreach, and the following were some interesting comments:

-As far as Twitter goes, Cena says he manages his account by himself and chose not to turn it over to someone else to do the tweeting for him. He says that he was hesitant about social media at first because he didn't want to let the fans "behind the curtain" of WWE so to speak.

-On a related note, it was said that while superstars have control over their Twitter accounts, WWE gives general guidelines to superstars about how to Tweet, and tells them general do's and don'ts, like do not drink and Tweet. There is also an area setup backstage at live events where superstars can post Tweets before and after matches.

-It was announced that at some point next week, WWE will be revealing a new distribution platform for WrestleMania 29.
