TNA Genesis PPV Results (1/13) – Did Jeff Hardy Beat the Odds to Retain the World Title?

(6) Knockouts Gauntlet Match

Gail Kim and Miss Tessmacher start off this match. Gail attempts a victory roll, but only gets two. Tessmacher goes for the facebuster out of the corner, but also gets a two-count. Taz puts over that Gail became the first ever KO Champ in a gauntlet match, as she hits Eat-Da-Feet to pin Tessmacher.

ODB makes her way out next, still carrying around the KO tag team belt. Gail Kim actually leaves the ring to meet her on the ramp, but gets taken out with a big clothesline. The make their way back into the ring, with ODB continuing her pressure by taking Kim from ring post to ring post. Turnbuckle splash connects, followed by a Bronco Buster. ODB takes her down with a clothesline and kips up. She drags gail to the corner and goes up to the top rope, but Kim sweeps the leg and she lands hard. Kim rolls her up for the win.

Mickie James is next, and Kim goes straight to work with several kicks. Mickie counters with a big kick to the jaw of her own, and a standing dropkick. She catches her with an enzugiri and a flapjack facebuster, but Gail rolls out of the ring to regroup. Mickie doesn’t let up however, and nails her with a headscissors to the floor. She heads up to the top turnbuckle, but Gail grabs on to the legs of Taryn Tarell. James comes off the ropes to help Taryn, but gets rolled up with the tights for a 3-count.

Afterwards, Gail hides out on the far side of the ring as Velvet Sky makes her entrance. She attacks Velvet from out of nowhere and sends her crashing hard into the steel steps. Gail rolls back into the ring and demands that Taryn start counting. She makes it to nine, but Velvet makes it to the ring at the last possible second. Kim tries for several pins, but can’t put away Sky just yet. She rolls up Velvet with an inside cradle, but Taryn catches her with her hands on the second rope. As the two of them argue, Velvet takes advantage and gets In Your Face for the three. Gail’s foot was under the bottom rope, but Taryn didn’t see it.

Winner and #1 Contender: Velvet Sky

Backstage Chris Daniels and Kazarian make fun of James Storm and his hick, country promos. He says him and Fransou Kazarian are not part of that stupid redneck demographic. He says that Hulk Hogan in all his wisdom made this match a #1 contender’s match, and the winner – namely, him – is going to face whoever happens to be the TNA World Champion on Impact. He says that Storm, like the rest of the world, as permission to worship them…now.
