Linda McMahon Approaches $50 Million Spent in Senate Race

Wrestlezone reported earlier this week that former WWE CEO Linda McMahon had fallen in recent Quinnipiac polls, now trailing Democratic candidate Christopher Murphy 49-43 percent.

While McMahon's camp once again protested the results of those polls, claiming the source was biased towards the opposing campaign, Linda herself donated $3.3 million more to the race this Tuesday. That brings the total of personal investment by the McMahon family to $42.6 million, coming closer to the $50 million mark she spent on the race in 2010.

Newsday is reporting that "much of the money has been spent on television advertising." The article goes on to claim McMahon's campaign is fighting against "national Democrats, special interests and super PACS trying to help her Democratic opponent, U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy. The outside groups are pouring millions of dollars into TV ads and mailers attacking McMahon."
