(5) Bobby Roode vs. Jeff Hardy
Roode starts the match with a cheap shot, taking Hardy to the outside and sending him face first off the steel guardrail. Roode continues the assault, throwing his oppponent into anything that hurts. As the two finally make it into the ring, the bell sounds and the match is underway with Hardy lifeless in the corner.
Bobby Roode stalks his prey, but Hardy bursts out of the corner with energy from nowhere, hitting flying lariats and a dropkick to take down Roode. Hardy with an Irish whip into the corner, followed by a back body drop. A running clothesline takes down Roode to the outside, as Hardy hypes the crowd in the middle of the ring. Hardy with a slingshot over the top rope, and both guys are laid out on the outside!
Hardy to his feet first, bouncing Roode off the guardrail. Hardy rolls Roode back in the ring, and he begs for a "time out". Hardy doesn't let up though, but Roode makes time for himself with a viscious clothesline. Roode stomps away on various body parts, ala Randy Orton, as the ref warns Roode to watch his closed fists. Once more they battle to the outside, and Roode attempts a clothesline on the floor, but gets blocked and eats one from Jeff Hardy, as we fade to the last commercial of the night.
Commercial Break
Back from the break and Roode has a headlock hooked in the middle of the ring. The Impact Zone is trying to get the #1 contender back into the match with "let's go Hardy" chants, but as soon as he breaks free Roode takes him down with a big elbow. Roode off the top rope with an Over Castle on Hardy, sending his head driving into the mat. Roode is once again stalking his prey, in total control of the match, as the crowd continues to chant for Hardy. Roode lands a swinging neckbreaker, but it's still not enough to put away Hardy, who is now showing some signs of life. Roode tries to take away that brief momentum with another headlock, trying to get a rear naked choke. Hardy looks like he's passed out. The referee lifts his hand into the air, and it drops for a one count. Again, and it drops for the two. Hebner lifts Hardy's arm for a third time, but Hardy still has life in him!
The two get to their feet with Roode still locking in the hold, but Hardy breaks free and hits Whisper in the Wind to even the odds! Hardy battling back with right after right hook, and lands a standing dropkick followed by a big splash off the second rope. Hardy goes for the pin, but only gets two. Bobby Roode takes down Hardy with a big spinebuster from nowhere, and both guy looks about out of gas. They head up to the top rope, Roode looking for the superplex, but Hardy fights him off! He goes for the Swanton, but Roode rolls out of the way and lands a spear! 1…2…but Hardy gets a shoulder up just in time!
A frustrated Roode looks for his signature Fisherman's buster, but Hardy hits the Twist of Fate! Hardy looks to win this thing, but Roode takes the easy way out and forces the disqualification with a low blow.
Winner (via DQ): Jeff Hardy
After the match Bobby Roode tries to hit Hardy with a steel chair, but Hebner takes it away! Hardy hits the Twist of Fate, and Roode rolls out of the ring. Austin Aries makes his way down, and throws a piece of paper with his written lines out of the ring. Aries says he's done listening to the people tell him how to be a Champion. He tells Hardy that he's half crippled and can barely play with his daughter. Aries says he's sick and tired of the special treatment Hardy gets, and the company is too busy cattering to Hardy to make the Champion new music and a new entrance video. He claims he's being set up to fail, but he's always worked best when it's him against the world. He tells Hardy at Bound for Glory the only failure is going to be him.
Jeff Hardy grabs the mic from him and says his nuts hurt, his neck hurts, but he's goign to end Austin Aries "cocky ass" at Bound for Glory. Aries grabs the mic back, lets Hardy have a moment to take in the cheers of the crowd. Hardy does, and Aries attacks him from behind and lands a sick Brainbuster to end the night.
