Reader Says Sheamus Received Hero’s Welcome at Dublin Event

SheamusThanks to Susie Gaynor for sending in the following:

I read the results from Dublin, Ireland but Sheamus did not get the credit he deserved.

When Lilian announced that it was main event time the whole area erupted with excitement and anticipation. Daniel Bryan came out first and the fans responded well to him. Lots of "yes" chants to be heard especially along ringside where I was. Sheamus' music hits and the whole arena erupts yet again. To these 8,000 fans he's the Irish version of John Cena. The children were so excited (a few even dressed up as him for the night), the older fans kept chanting his name "Sheamus, Sheamus, Sheamus". The fans had nothing but the utmost respect for their hometown hero.

As Sheamus stood in the ring the "Ole Ole Ole" chants could be heard right throughout the arena. Sheamus couldn't help but stand and look around at the 8,000 fans who came to welcome him home. Bryan and Sheamus put on an excellent match which deserves to be repeated at a PPV. They work really well together and compliment each other's in-ring ability. Sheamus picks up the win to retain The World Heavyweight Championship and The O2 arena goes crazy. I even think Lilian had a tear in her eye and she couldn't stop smiling.

Sheamus gets on the mic and thanks his fans for all their support. He said he wrestled in front of millions in Miami at Wrestlemania but nothing compares to wrestling in front of his 8,000 fans in Dublin, Ireland. He said his win was for all his Irish fans and left the belt in the ring whilst he went to spend time with his fans. He took his time going around ringside posing for photos, signing autographs, shaking hands with fans (incl me 🙂 ) hugging fans. He wrapped the Irish flag around him and he took a kid into the ring with him. This kid was a mini Sheamus, white paint on his face and bright red hair. The last time he was in Dublin he was against John Cena who was WWE Champion. Cena won that night but left the belt with Sheamus so he could have mic time with his fans. Sheamus promised his fans the next time he came home he'd have the WWE Championship belt. He kept his promise(almost), he came home with the gold….He came home The World Heavyweight Champion.
