No Chance starts playing and Vince comes out with Johnny Ace to the ring. They are met with a CM Punk chant and Vince says he will never say that name again, and they are chanting the name of a traitor. Vince calls Punk an egotistical, selfish turd and no one man is bigger than the WWE, because they will move on and crown a new WWE Champion tonight. He announces an 8 man singles tournament and goes over the matches, then mentions John Cena is not there tonight and he let Vince down. He told Cena if Punk left as champion there would be severe action, and he promises tonight will be a night they always remember.
WWE Championship Tournament Match – First Round
The Miz vs Alex Riley
Miz tries some legsweeps then takes Riley down, but he gets backed into the corner and Riley begins attacking Miz’s injured leg. He slams it off the ringpost then puts Miz in a single leg Boston crab, but Miz is able to kick him off briefly. Riley gets a near fall then runs shoulder first into the ringpost and Miz begins punching him but it is shortlived. Riley catches him with a neckbreaker and a spinebuster and fights out of a Skull Crushing Finale and avoids Miz coming off the middle turnbuckle. Riley puts him in a Texas Cloverleaf but Miz grabs the ropes to break the hold, then Riley continues to punch him. The ref attempts to break it up, and Riley gets distracted and caught with a Skull Crushing Finale, and Miz goes to the next round.
Winner – The Miz
WWE Championship Tournament Match – First Round
R-Truth vs Jack Swagger
Truth punches away at Swagger on the ropes then kicks him in the head and gets a quick roll up for two. Swagger regroups then powers Truth into the corner and hits a side slam for two, then hits a couple kidney punches and slams him down again. Truth tries to get to his feet but Swagger unloads on him near the ropes and the ref calls for a break at five. Swagger hits a corner bomb for another near fall then attempts a powerslam but Truth slides out. He hits a heel kick and goes for an axe kick, but Swagger catches him and goes for the Ankle Lock. Truth rolls through and gets a school boy pin for a "surprise upset."
