WWE Capitol Punishment PPV Opener:

Tonight’s LIVE WWE Capitol Punishment pay-per-view at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. opens with a video being aired. A nice shot of the ring is shown where the ropes are red, white, and blue to match the night’s theme as we make our way to ringside where Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole, and Booker T discuss the night’s events.

Dolph Ziggler (w/ Vickie Guerrero) vs. Kofi Kingston

Kofi Kingston is announced first as his music sounds in the Washington D.C.’s Verizon Center and Kofi makes his way to the ring. Out next is Dolph Ziggler accompanied by Vickie Guerrero as his music blares in the arena’s speakers. The match is formally announced as the bell rings and the match begins. Lots of back and forth between Kingston and Ziggler to begin the match. Kingston hits the SOS and a pin attempt to no avail as Ziggler kicks out before the three count. Once again Kingston gets the upper hand and goes for a high cross body kick for another near fall. Kingston again goes on the offense when Ziggler quickly counters with a sleeper hold. Kingston runs Ziggler into the turnbuckle to break the Ziggler’s grip. Once again Ziggler re-applies the sleeper hold after Vickie scratches at Kingston’s eyes. Ziggler pushes off the ropes in order to keep Kingston from reaching them as the bell rings. A bit of confusion momentarily as the referee awards the belt to Ziggler for the win by submission.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler (w/ Vickie Guerrero)
