Ricky Steamboat Signs With WWE; Will Leave ROH

Ryan Clark

Ring of Honor was informed yesterday that due to Ricky Steamboat’s new obligations with World Wrestling Entertainment as a road agent, Steamboat would be finishing up with the company this Sunday (December 26) at the Final Battle 2004 event in Philadelphia.

Steamboat’s appearance at the event on Sunday will more than likely spell the end of his feud with Mick Foley where he represented “Pure Wrestling” against Foley’s “Hardcore Wrestling.” It should be noted that Steamboat was booked for the January 15th, 2004 ROH event in Cambridge, MA, but will be unable to make that show now.

ROH’s Gabe Sapolsky recently stated that Steamboat would be able to make other ROH dates down the line if they didn’t conflict with his WWE duties, but many feel that isn’t very realistic.
