Backstage Royal Rumble News: Orton, Angle, Backstage Tension; More

As we’ve been reporting, both Randy Orton and Paul London were not injured last night at the PPV. Both were worked storyline angles.

There were several workers who were said to be surprised by Kurt Angle’s short stay in the Rumble match. Angle has been working hurt as of late and they likely booked him in the match for a short period of time because of that.

Several people backstage at the PPV have said the mood was very ‘tense’ and got even more sour after Vince McMahon’s injury. We know that there are not a lot of happy people this week due to the very intense travel schedule. We’re also told there was “some comparing of notes” among some of the workers of both RAW and SmackDown! that dealt with morale and money. The basic gist of the story is that some of the guys are being paid on the low end of their contracts and with the upcoming schedule, it doesn’t make those people very happy.
