TNA News: Major Meetings, Backstage News, Jarrett As Champion

– At the Impact! tapings last Tuesday night in Orlando at Universal Studios, the fans in the crowd started a “drop the title” chant at Jeff Jarrett during his segment with Dusty Rhodes and Diamond Dallas Page. This is the second time the Orlando crowd has turned on Jarrett in a big way at a TV taping. Before the taping last week, Jarrett was over heard telling many that he has great heel heat and that he isn’t getting the kind of heat where fans just simply dislike the character. One TNA source added, “The fans are telling him something he doesn’t want to hear. It’s time for him to pay attention for the good of the company.” That same source wondered if Jarrett could be denying what the fans are doing and wondered if he was that oblivious to what is going on.

– Jerry Jarrett is said to be happy with the booking of Dusty Rhodes thus far, especially given that buyrates for the monthly PPV events have been consistant (or so we are told). There was some initial fear within the company that the first PPV, Victory Road, would draw well and that buys would drop after that. Despite that buyrates are still said to be below 40,000 buys, which is much less than the 50,000 mark they need for overall profitability.

– There are still said to be some hard feelings concerning Dusty Rhodes lying to TNA workers about Abyss when he made his surprise return to the company at the Final Resolution PPV last month. One TNA source added, “We’re supposed to be loyal to the company, but they lie to us about something that stupid and pointless? Don’t work the boys and expect respect.”
