Since leaving his position as Vice President of Talent Relations in 2004, Jim Ross’ role within the company has been considerably scaled down. Ross still meets with Vince McMahon and is one of the few people who freely speaks his mind without worrying that disagreeing with him may affect his position.
A close friend is quoted saying that Jim is much happier now living in Oklahoma. The friend goes on to say, “He has long talked of his goal to be primarily an announcer.”
The friend also added that Ross wants John “Johnny Ace” Laurenaitis to succeed as he played a part in grooming him. However, with Laurenaitis proving how hard the job actually is, he feels somewhat satisfied as it goes to show just how much he was taken for granted.
Stephanie McMahon is apparently a fan of Laurenaitis, although sources say Triple H doesn’t feel the same way.
