– This week’s WWE SmackDown! aired before 4.9 million viewers and scored a 1.8/6 rating in the all-important adults 18-49 demographic. Such figures put the show in a near tie with the debut of NBC’s “The Law Firm” (5.1 million viewers, 1.9/6).
– As some undoubtedly guessed, the plan for Summerslam has long been Matt Hardy vs. Edge. Once Hardy works his first actual match with WWE, he is expected to return to the road and begin working full-time.
– As was reported Friday, WWE.com made significant edits to its “clarification” piece on Chris Jericho’s contract status. In a move that will continue to fuel speculation of Jericho’s desires to take time off this fall, all references to the extension being “short-term” were removed. The other glaring edit was the removal of Jericho’s claims that Fozzy will never interfere with his pro wrestling schedule.
