On Friday, August 5, 2005, the day before tickets went on sale for the WWE Unforgiven PPV in Oklahoma City, an ad ran on the local sports talk station WWLS 640 am. The ad hyped the PPV and it announced the main event as being John Cena defending the WWE Title against Kurt Angle. Also, on Thursday, August 4, 2005, Jim Ross was on a local OKC radio station 94.7 The Buzz morning show hyping the ticket sales on Saturday. When asked about the first WWE PPV in OKC, Ross stated that the original plan was for Unforgiven to be in Lubbock, Tex. on Sept. 18, Raw in Wichita, Ks. on Sept. 19, and Smackdown taped in OKC on Sept. 20. Ross said that he went to WWE management and said he stood up for OKC and was able to convince WWE that OKC would do well with the PPV. Now it is OKC PPV, Wichita Raw, and Lubbock Smackdown.
