WWE Enforces Trademarks On Another ECW Name

Despite using it before his run in World Wrestling Entertainment, Spike Dudley will no longer be allowed to use that name from this point forward. According to the webmaster of his website, Spike will join his “Dudley Brothers” in having to come up with a new ring name once his 90 day no compete period ends next month.

WWE have informed Spike that he will no longer be able to use any combination of the Spike or Dudley name, as well as any likenesses or similarities to the character he portrayed in WWE, despite him using the name since his ECW debut in the Fall of 1996. However, PWInsider report that Spike has come up with a new name, however is keeping quiet over it until he applies and receives a trademark on it.

This follows last week’s actions by WWE where they informed the former Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley that they would not be able to use their ring names or the intellectual properties that came with those personas.
