Big Update On TNA’s Primetime Slot, Kazarian, Christian Cage

In an update regarding the situation between TNA and Spike TV this week about iMPACT! changing to a new timeslot, the early word is that both sides are reportedly “vowing secrecy” until the official announcement is made. Although not confirmed, it appears TNA could make the announcement during an upcoming conference call with Jeff Jarrett. What is known is that Spike TV wanted to give TNA a Thursday timeslot at 8pm, while TNA wanted a Monday timeslot at 8pm. It should also be noted that Jeff Jarrett heavily pushed for a 90 minute timeslot and not the current 60 minute timeslot they have had since the company’s debut on Spike TV back in October of 2005.

Many readers sent us word that Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels (as Curry Man) and Frankie Kazarian (former TNA star) all appeared on Comedy Central’s “Distraction” program last night.

Joseph sent this in: I picked up my Marvel Comics for the week and in the two I bought they had a full page advertising the new line of TNA action figures. One ad had the action figures of Chris Sabin holding the X-Division Title, Raven, Monty Brown, and AJ Styles. The other one had what I am assuming is the full roster of TNA Action Figures. I thought it was interesting and a sign that TNA is pushing harder for more mainstream recognition.

Northeast Wrestling has announced that Christian Cage would be making his first ever independent pro wrestling appearance on March 25 in Bristol, CT since jumping from WWE to TNA in late 2005. Others booked for the show include Jerry Lawler, Simon Dean, Chris Sabin and others.

On a related note, a match between Christian Cage and AJ Styles has been signed for the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey Benefit Show on June 3 in Toms River, New Jersey.

TNA star Abyss reportedly gave his notice to Ring of Honor and is now done with the promotion “effective immediately.” It should be noted that there was no heat over his departure from ROH and that it was simply a case of Abyss wanting to be featured more, but that ROH booker Gabe Sapolsky didn’t want to put another TNA name at the top of the cards over his crew of talent.
