WWE SmackDown! Results – March 24, 2006

Thanks to PWInsider.Com for the following report:

We are a little more than a week from Wrestlemania 22 in Chicago, Illinois. When we last saw some of these superstars, it was at Saturday Night’s Main Event. What will happen now that Mike Johnson will have the honor to see Booker T face the Boogeyman live next Sunday? Will there be any more developments in the main event between Rey Mysterio, Kurt Angle, and Randy Orton? Will Nitro and Mercury have a match at Wrestlemania? Will we see any ‘tests of strumph’ from Mark Henry as he prepares for his casket match with the Undertaker? How will Bradshaw react to his beer drinking contest and subsequent stunner from last Saturday night? Who will join Matt Hardy, Fit Finlay, Shelton Benjamin, Ric Flair, and Rob Van Dam in the Money in the Bank match?

We are live on tape from Memphis, Tennessee and your announcers are Tazz and Michael ‘UPS’ Cole.

Randy Orton comes out through Rey’s ‘jumping hole’ by the TitanTron and he has a mic. Randy says that he doesn’t need a fancy entrance. He doesn’t need gold medals around his neck either because he is the biggest star in the entire WWE. Last Saturday, he had a chance to make history when it was John Cena and Triple H from Raw against Rey Mysterio, Kurt Angle, and himself. He had the WWE Champion beaten, but it didn’t happen. We see footage of Rey pulling Randy off Cena. Randy says that people might think that he is not a team player. However, Rey Mysterio and Kurt Angle would rather screw him than win a match for Smackdown. Kurt and Rey are jealous. They are jealous of his good looks. Jealous of his god given talent. Wrestlemania will be the greatest day of his career. Randy tells everyone to feast their eyes upon the next World champion, Randy Orton and Randy poses for the fans.

Tazz calls Orton pompous, but says that Orton is good. Cole says that it is time to find out who the last member of the Money in the Bank match will be. We see footage from last week’s lumberjack match when Fit Finlay defeated Bobby Lashley to get a spot in the match. We also see footage from the Matt Hardy/Animal match where Animal’s victory was turned into a disqualification when brass knuckles fell from Animal’s armpit. We also see Animal attacking Matt Hardy after the match.

We see Psicosis and Super Crazy come to the ring followed by Tatanka. Paul Burchill is the next person to swing to the ring for the match. Road Warrior Animal comes out and he has something to say. He says that he shouldn’t have to be in this match because he beat his opponent fair and square. He says that he is money in the bank. He made more money than any of them and is a bigger superstar than any of them and he deserves some respect.
