Notes On Big Show, The Sandman, & More News

Rick Martin sent this in: Hey, I just picked up the September issue of WWE Magazine. The very first page is a huge ad for Summerslam, “featuring Jackass”. It’s the original poster, with Umaga on the front and the Jackass crew’s heads buried in sand. Also, they list John Morrison as Johnny Nitro. Plus, Triple H is the guest editor, and with his black pen, he writes some nasty comments. For example, it shows a blowup Ultimate Warrior doll, and Triple H’s comment reads “Comes with Warrior’s Actual IQ score.” And another example is when they score the Shrek movie, he says “Big Shows’s still making hits.”

A jury trial has been set for November 11, 2008 in the civil lawsuit filed against World Wrestling Entertainment and The Sandman by wrestling fan Karlene Boutwell. As reported numerous times before, Boutwell alleges that Sandman committed assault and battery against her during his ring entrance coming through the crowd during a live August 8, 2006 broadcast of ECW on Sci Fi in Nashville, TN. Both sides are scheduled to provide witness lists and all materials pertaining to the case by October 28, 2008. Boutwell is seeking $100,000 in damages, claiming Sandman quote, “while bleeding from a self-imposed wound to his head, grabbed her, picked her up, and threw her, not only injuring her back and aggravating pre-existing injuries, but also exposing her to blood and humiliating her.” WWE continues to deny all claims and provided footage of Sandman’s entrance to Boutwell in attempt to get her to drop the lawsuit. The company also claimed they would not be liable for any “attack” since Sandman is an independent contractor and not an employee.
