More On TNA’s Big Announcement, More News

We reported earlier today that this past Thursday’s edition of TNA iMPACT! on Spike TV drew a 1.0 cable rating, down slighly from the 1.1 rating the show had been averaging the last three weeks. Well, there are some conflicting reports making the rounds right now about the rating as I’ve heard the show did a 1.2 cable rating with 1.5 million viewers total. We hope to have more on this soon.

TNA has announced via their mobile text service and on Spike TV this week that the company would be making a “major announcement” at No Surrender this Sunday on PPV.

At this point, the announcement is expected to be that iMPACT! will indeed expand to a two hour program on Thursday nights beginning in October. The deal is done and the announcement would be taking place at No Surrender as a way to get things rolling just before the big Bound For Glory PPV.

It should also be noted that the company announced that they are currently in negotiations with a “former World champion” and according to PWInsider there has been some movement within TNA in the last few days to finalize a talent acquisition. Any type of movement is being kept very quiet so anything is possible regarding the “major announcement” tomorrow at No Surrender.

No Surrender has become a big PPV for TNA every year as some major things have taken place in recent years. At 2005, Rhino made his debut for the company. In 2006, Impact was announced as moving to primetime and Kurt Angle’s signing was also revealed. So tomorrow’s event could see another big announcement made for 2007 whether it involves the Spike TV situation or a major talent acquisition.
