Original Piper/WWE Plans, D-X’s Extended Return?

WWE just announced on their website that Triple H, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Rey Mysterio & Kane will face Umaga, Mr. Kennedy, MVP, Finlay & Big Daddy V in a traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match.

Initial ads for the 11/17 Survivor Series in Miami listed DX vs. Orton & Umaga as the main event. Those plans have since been scrapped obviously and that match will occur tonight on Raw instead.

WWE issued the following press release today: STAMFORD, Conn.–Tickets for WrestleMania XXIV went on sale to the public on Saturday, November 3 at 10 a.m. and within 90 minutes nearly 44,000 tickets were in the hands of WWE® fans around the globe. WrestleMania XXIV is now on pace to entertain a capacity crowd at The Florida Citrus Bowl with ticket sales already exceeding $4.4 million, making it the highest grossing event in the 71 year history of The Florida Citrus Bowl, outpacing the legendary Rolling Stones. Fans from at least 21 countries, 47 states, and 5 Canadian provinces are now set to converge on Orlando for WrestleMania XXIV. It is anticipated that WrestleMania XXIV will generate as much as $30 million in economic impact for the city of Orlando. WrestleMania XXIV tickets are still available at Ticketmaster outlets throughout Florida and worldwide at www.ticketmaster.com. This will be the first time that WrestleMania has ever taken place in the state of Florida, a landmark occasion spurred by a personal invitation extended to WWE Chairman Vince McMahon by Orlandoâs Mayor Buddy Dyer and The Central Florida Sports Commission last year.

Before Piper got dumped in favor of JBL, Ric Flair was originally advertised to be one of the special guest referees at Cyber Sunday along with Mick Foley and Steve Austin. They were still airing commercials with Flair being advertised for the SmackDown title match, which was originally planned to be a four-way match between Batista, Taker, Henry & Khali. The commercial also listed Cena vs. Orton in the main event. Anyway, Piper was actually a replacement for Flair after Flair had a falling out with WWE.
