Vince vs. Finlay At ‘Mania, Final SD! Show, Injury, HOF

For those who missed my report over the weekend, there is speculation that Vince McMahon vs. Finlay may take place at Wrestlemania. Not only do recent storylines suggest this but Vince is said to be training really hard as of late.

Jakks contract with WWE expires in 2009. Both Marvel Toys and Hasbro have shown interest in the WWE line. WWE has wanted to drop Jakks for a while now so it is almost certain that a change will be made.

Tickets for the 2008 WWE Hall of Fame go on sale Saturday, March 1. The event will take place on March 29 at the Amway Arena in Orlando, FL the day before WrestleMania 24. There is no word at this time on who WWE plans on inducting at the ceremony, but names will eventually start to make the rounds very soon.

The final episode of WWE Friday Night Smackdown on The CW Network will be on September 12 later this year. As reported on earlier, MyNetworkTV looks to be the frontrunner for where WWE will take the show next. They don’t have many options to bring the show to cable since they are now apart of the NBC Universal syngergy and would have to bring it to a cable channel in that umbrella of networks. It should be noted that CW executives don’t see the departure of WWE programming as a bad thing since the belief is that the WWE audience was not watching other programs on the network and that the rights and fees the network was paying wasn’t cost effective anymore in raising attention to other shows. WWE officials were described as being frustrated with CW dropping the show as they just invested millions in their new TV set and upgrading all production equipment to HD – a move they thought would increase the chances of them re-signing with CW.

As noted earlier, Rory McAlister of The Highlanders tag team has suffered a complete pectoral tear and underwent surgery yesterday to repair it. His pectoral was torn completely off the bone. McAlister stated on his “MySpace” page that he wasn’t even sure how he suffered the injury in the first place, but knew something was wrong and WWE sent him to be examined immediately. When surgeons opened up McAlister, it was discovered that the tear was actually worse than expected. There is no word at this time on how long he will be out for.
