Update On KOTR Plans, Backstage Styles/Adamle/ECW News

Ryan Clark

There were no long term plans for WWE to do a one-night King of the Ring tournament on Raw tonight. Apparently the decision was made in the last ten days. There is no clear idea of who is going to be in the tournament, with some talent still not knowing if they were involved as of yesterday.

It was no secret that Vince McMahon was never a fan of Joey Styles as an announcer. McMahon doesn’t want the announcers to spend as much time to calling the moves, and more time devoted to telling a story.

For all the criticism of Mike Adalme, he is the type of announcer WWE looks for. WWE has passed over experienced announcers in the past, preferring to hire guys they feel the company can groom. Believe it or not, WWE paid Adamle $300,000 to be more than a backstage interviewer, and despite his age (he’ll turn 59 this year), he is being groomed for one of the major WWE television shows.
