Melissa’s TNA Debut, Knockout Gets Head Shaved Bald

— Cheerleader Melissa’s appearance on iMPACT! was likely a one-time thing, at least for now. At the moment there is no long-term storyline as to why she was herself instead of Raisha Saaed. Unlike the deal with Shelly “Salinas” Martinez, there is no plan for Saaed to reveal herself as Melissa. Melissa vs. Haze was pretty much put out on television because they had an open spot on the show and another women’s match would likely give a boost to the ratings. This was all Jeff Jarrett’s idea. He turned out to be right as the match drew a 1.10 quarter hour rating, 0.1 higher than the main event even. Basically, TNA could have put any two women in the match for the same effect.

— Devin Cutting sent in the following… Lance Hoyt and The Naturals will be appearing at the Combined Wrestling Federation event in San Antonio, Texas on May 17th, 2008. Go to http://www.combinedwrestling.com for info about the CWF and http://www.prowrestlingevents.tk for info about upcoming shows.

— At last night’s TNA pay-per-view, a TNA Knockout battle royal was held with the winner getting a Knockouts Title match (after she used a ladder to retrieve the contract), and the runner-up having her head shaved bald. The match came down to Gail Kim and Roxxi Laveaux, and Kim managed to snag the contract due to interference from Angelina Love. Roxxi Laveaux ended up getting her head shaved bald — the first wrestling female head shaving since WrestleMania XX when Molly Holly got her dome shaved. Also, on last Thursday’s Impact, Gail Kim earned immunity from having her head shaved bald at the pay-per-view by winning the pole match that was held. Angelina Love, who was the last person eliminated in the battle royal, would have had her head shaved bald had Laveaux retrieved the contract.
