More On Yang’s Suspension, Major RAW **SPOILER**?, Cousin Sal

The Associated Press has picked up the story on the WWE suspension of Jimmy Wang Yang. The headline reads “WWE suspends wrestler for 30 days for drugs.” You can read the article at http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080609/ct_wwe_suspension.html?.v=1. As per usual, WWE Spokesperson Gary Davis declined to comment on what drugs Yang was suspended for.

There was a bit of second guessing internally about the Cousin Sal angle. Basically, Cousin Sal is noly even a “celebrity” and using him makes WWE look minor league. The deal was put together by Kristen Prouty, WWE’s VP of Entertainment of Affairs, who is responsible for celebrity involvement with the company. Also, she used to work with Jimmy Kimmel’s show, so putting the thing together wasn’t too hard.

WWE Hall of Fame Mae Young may be appearing on tonight’s Raw in Oakland. Young is in California visiting family this week and WWE asked her to come to tonight’s show. It is unknown if she’s appearing on the show, but Young was asked to attend.

Jim Ross is back with another blog post, which you can read here in its entirety. Some highlights: Tonight’s RAW: “Mr. McMahonâs Million Dollar Mania begins this Monday night on Raw. I have no idea how this is going to be facilitated within the broadcast but it should be an interesting process and one that makes some lucky fans some serious cash. The only thing that I know or think I know about Monday nightâs show as this is being written is that Chris Jerichoâs Highlight Reel guest will be Shawn Michaels. Hulk Hogan’s on “Larry King Live” Tomorrow Night: “Hulkâs best defense is to admit that he and his family have made some mistakes and essentially ask for forgiveness as this society loves to forgive its celebâs but Hogan will further vilify himself and his family if he tries to justify what has been said, IE comments taken out of context, etc, even though they have been documented on tape. At the end of the day, this is a good “get” for Larry King but in my humble opinion Hogan should simply lay low and the kid should do the same and do his time.” Short Matches on RAW: “I am not surprised that I often read reports that WWE live event matches are very well received by the paying customers who are in attendance because when TV time restrictions are not a factor the majority of the wrestlers have a much better opportunity in having a fun and exciting presentation than not. Way back in the day, most TV bouts, especially when I was a kid, were all a 10 minute time limit (remember time limits?), which was the reason given for the faster pace on TV as opposed to live events. Nonetheless I still donât know who can enjoy a 2-3 minute match or who it helps over the long haul.”
