Jim Ross has posted a followup blog clarifying what he wrote in his blog yesterday concerning Starrcade and Wrestlemania. He said, “Starrcade was created in 1983. WrestleMania was created in 1985. Now that we have that established allow me to interpret my original message indicating that Starrcade was the NWAâs answer to the WWEâs WrestleMania. Obviously I did not explain this well. JCP often talked after the first â~Mania that the NWA already had ‘their Mania’ in Starrcade. After the success of the first â~Mania, an increased focused was put on Starrcade to be as big as WrestleMania. McMahon hit gold with his PPV ‘big event’ concept and Jim Crockett Promotions wanted to follow suit and essentially mortgaged their future to some degree to do so.” To read his full blog entry, click here.
