More To The Story Of How Colin Delaney Was Hired By WWE

In a recent interview with Monday Night Mayhem, Colin Delaney (Colin Olsen) shared how he got his opportunity and was eventually hired by WWE.

He said:

“Mosh then said he was surprised to see Colin on television for the first time last December, and asked how it all came about. Colin said that he was working at his â9-5 job❠at a factory called Bags Unlimited in Rochester, NY. His close friend, Brodie Lee, then called, and asked him how fast he could get to The Blue Cross Arena, where SmackDown & ECW were being taped that night. Colin then said, âSo, needless to say I broke many traffic laws, easily the fastest I think Iâve driven down those city streets. Got down to the arena where I was met outside by some people, they brought me in and said I was perfect for what they needed, wrestled Shelton Benjamin on ECW television, everybody loved it, and they brought me back.” Every week after that, they would ask him to come back the week following, until finally getting a contract a few months later.”

There’s more to the story. The previous night in Buffalo various wrestlers were booked as extras including “Fabulous” John McChesney and NWa Upstate promoter, Mike Rosario. I was called that day by John McChesney who told me Michael Hayes had decided everybody was too small and had sent all of them home. The extras were also booked the next day but were told not to bother, so McChesney stayed in Buffalo that night.

Next day I’m call by a WWE representative asking where McChesney is as there’s a spot for him. I called John and told him to get his ass to Rochester as fast as he could. It was already early afternoon. John hit the road for the 2+ hour drive.

When he arrived at the building Colin Olsen had already been called, had arrived and got the spot. John McChesney got paid for being there. Colin Olsen got hired.
