News Update on Combat Zone Wrestling for 12/08

12/18 – CZW NEWS AND NOTES

– Combat Zone Wrestling wants to thank all of the over 1,100 fans who packed the CZW Arena last Saturday for CAGE OF DEATH X! The Philadelphia Fire Marshall was on hand and actually refused the sale of tickets to a number of late arriving fans when the building reached it’s Cage of Death capacity. Zandig, Lobo, and the rest of CZW are so pleased with the turnout that January will become CZW Fan Appreciation month. In the coming days, CZWrestling.com will reveal details on just what that means…

– Lyle C William’s CAGE OF DEATH X photos have now been posted… you can view them here: http://www.lylecwilliams.com/czw1894.html – Thanks LYLE! The Cage of Death X DVD will be available soon from our friends at Smart Mark Video (www.smartmarkvideo.com). Make sure you get your copy in time for the Holidays!

– Cage of Death X was a very special night for CZW, and founder John Zandig. The Ultraviolent Icon and Deathmatch Legend was inducted into the ECW ARENA’s HARDCORE HALL OF FAME! Zandig joins such legends as Terry Funk, The Sandman, and Public Enemy as those who have received Philadelphia wrestling’s most prestigious honor.

– In addition to a number of fans who returned to the Combat Zone on Saturday, a slew of CZW legends returned as well… among them… WIFEBEATER, LOBO, and RIC F’N BLADE, who refereed the Jr. Heavyweight Title Ladder Match. Also spotted in the CZW Arena for Cage of Death X: Ian Knoxx (who subsequently assissted in f*cking up and removing Hellaware Assassin and his cronies from the Cage of Death), and MMA Legend DON “The Predator” FRYE. Also, a number of other wrestlers appeared hoping for a spot on the show, and a glimpse of the cage…

– Cage of Death X was the culmination of a long road for NEW CZW World Jr. Heavyweight Champion RYAN MCBRIDE. The “Hot Shot’ survived a chaotic and extremely dangerous Ultraviolent TLC Match which opened the show, and left the crowd in awe of the incredible pace and breathtaking aerial action. CZWrestling.com was on hand to record comments from McBride shortly after his match. They will be posted soon on the CZW website.

– As always, the Cage of Death match was the most Ultraviolent match of the year, and as always, created new stars… and scars… among those… the Notorious DEVON MOORE. Philadelphia’s resident hardcore scumbag impressed the masses at Cage of Death, and proved his toughness to those in doubt. Moore was the recipient of a Mother F’N Bomb from Zandig from the top of the cage, thru several panes of glass and barbed wire tables to the Cage’s wooden floor… and recovered in time to make it to the top of the cage for the matches final moments… suprisingly, Moore received a standing ovation from the CZW faithful when he reached his feet several minutes after suffering the sickest fall of the CZW year. As expected, Moore required several stitches to close numerous gaping wounds on his back.

– Other injuries suffered at Cage of Death X: The New “New Age Punisher” B-Boy had a tooth knocked out in his victory over Sonjay Dutt. Ruckus was hospitalized with severe lower back pain after receiving countless Chokebreakers from Nick Gage, and DJ Hyde received nearly a dozen stitches on his forehead and scalp after a FBTW beatdown from Deranged.

– As an added bonus for the CZW fans who attended Cage of Death X, they were able to witness the firing of DJ Hyde at the hands of Lobo. As expected, the firing was met with a loud applause from the CZW fans. Hopefully, Hyde will get the message and stay away from the CZW Arena forever. We’re sure everyone will miss him…

– CAGE OF DEATH X was the host of 2 very impressive Combat Zone debuts from “Quick” Carter Grey, and Ego Fantastico. Lobo was impressed with their performance, and wants to know what you think… should they be brought back to the Combat Zone in 2009? Stay tuned for a poll in the near future on CZWrestling.com and the CZW forums…

– CZW and Toys for Tots want to thank the CZW fans for once again setting the standard as Philadelphia’s most charitable wrestling fans. Officials, and honor guards were on hand to remove boxes and boxes of toys donated by you the fans, all of which will go to improve the holidays of those local families which are less fortunate.

– CZW also wishes to thank the hundreds of fans who packed NICKELS TAVERN for both the Official Pre and Post-Show CAGE OF DEATH X Festivities! As always… you the fans partied with the stars of the Combat Zone all night long… and as always, set the standard for hardcore after-parties. Thank You CZW fans!
