Update on Matt Cappotelli’s Release, A-Train Angers Kurt Angle

Wrestler Matt CappotelliThe Wrestling Observer is reporting that Tough Enough 2 winner Matt Cappotelli, who is pictured at the right, was in fact released from his WWE $75,000 downside guarantee contract due to cost-cutting measures within the company. Capotelli has been largely inactive in WWE since he was diagnosed with a brain tumor shortly before being called up to the main roster 3 years ago. WWE felt like it would be in poor taste to release him while he was being treated for his tumor, as it would paint a very unsympathetic picture of the company. However, since Cappotelli’s tumor has been removed and his condition is currently stable, the company felt as if they could proceed with his release considering he cannot wrestle.

Giant Bernard, formerly A-Train of WWE, apparently angered Kurt Angle following a mistimed powerbomb that Bernard gave Angle following a match they taped for TV in Japan. Bernard was supposed to wait a few minutes after the match concluded do deliver the bomb, which would allow TNA to edit the move out of their broadcast, however Bernard went right into the spot following the match finish. TNA does not want to air footage of Bernard doing a move like that to a top star like Angle, as he may come off as the weaker of the two.
