ROH Announces Huge Main Event, Ric Flair For This Saturday

Ric FlairRing Of Honor sent along the following press release to WrestleZone.com:

It’s been made pretty clear by Bryan Danielson that he has only one very specific thing left unaccomplished here in Ring of Honor.  He’s been a World Champion, a Pure Champion, he won the inaugural Survival of the Fittest tournament, he’s tied with Nigel for the record number of World Title defenses, and he was the main event of the very first ROH event.

But the only thing he’s never accomplished, the one thing that has eluded him, has been the ROH World Tag Team Titles.  His partners have included Michael Modest, Samoa Joe, Jay Lethal, Nigel McGuinness, Austin Aries, Tyler Black, and Kevin Steen, but not with a single one of those individuals has Danielson been able to capture those titles.  Lesser men would have given up, but there is something to be said for persistence…

And now, in the Motor City on June 26th, Bryan Danielson will unite with a man with whom he has a great deal of personal history: KENTA!  These two had wars at “Glory by Honor V, Night 2” and “Driven”, among others, but this will mark the first time in ROH that they have stood on the same side of the ring.  Their opponents: ROH World Tag Team Champions, Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards, The American Wolves.

The Wolves path of destruction has touched a great deal of the ROH roster, and Danielson is one of many who have been a victim.  From the epic at “Tag Title Classic”, the neck injury of his partner Tyler Black, and submitting to Edward’s Achilles lock, Danielson has been tested like never before in recent months.  KENTA has history with both Richards and Edwards; mentoring Davey, defending hi s GHC Jr. Title against both men, most recently against Richards in an amazing contest at “Supercard of Honor IV”, and would love nothing more than to beat some respect back into Richards.

KENTA has the potential to be the key partner in Bryan’s quest, but potential only matters if it’s fulfilled.  KENTA and Bryan’s past issues are just that, the past, and both men have their own reasons to want to take The Wolves’ prized possessions from them.   Should the Wolves get past Steen & Generico in New York, then Detroit will, without a doubt, be host to one of the most hard hitting tag title matches in recent memory.

Tickets are on sale right now for Detroit, MI on June 26th right here at www.rohwrestling.com.

And don’t forget, Ric Flair will also be in attendance for a special meet & greet autograph session!
