Backstage News: Latest On Sting’s Possible Retirement

StingThere has been increased talk of Sting retiring in TNA lately. Apparently Sting has talked about retiring every year since returning as an active wrestler in TNA.

Sting is now 50 years old and every year apparently tells company officials that it’s his last year in wrestling. This is going on again right now, although the internal belief in TNA is that Dixie Carter will convince Sting to sign another year extension before his current contract expires.

Sting is given a lot of leeway in terms of his schedule on the road. He doesn’t work house shows or foreign tours, and with the new TNA television taping schedule (taping multiple weeks worth of TV in a few day period) he has more time to spend with his family and relax.

The general consensus is that Sting will sign on for another year, although nothing has officially happened to give that indication – it’s just what people think is going to happen. It is expected, however, that Sting will only be around for another year or two at the most, and then hang ’em up for good.
