WZ.com Exclusive: Sal Corrente Fires Back At Eric Bischoff

Corrente: My response is that I am unaware of any bad reputation that I have given the business. We have paid every wrestler who worked for us. We have no drug scandals or anything else associated with us. We ran events that four years later people are still talking about. On the other other hand, Bill Behrens got up in court and said that almost every wrestler on the card was overpaid for their services. Of course, I find it hard to believe that he had any idea what they were contracted to do once they got there.

WrestleZone:
Take this time to get anything else out there that you want.

Corrente: Well my first concern is to address the other issues with Bischoff.  The first thing is that at no time during the eight day trial did he even show his face at the court house.  When he says the case was decided quickly I dont know what he used to determine "quick".  The case was set for five days and took eight. The case would have taken several days longer if the judge wasnt doing all he could to get the case over with.

We presented our case in as speedy a time as possible. I personally testified for about 2.5 hours on direct examination.  I was cross examined for 4 hours plus.  That was consistent with the case most cross examination took much longer than the direct questioning. The jury deliberated for 2.5 hours if thats fast then so be it. We had a settlement offer given to us shortly before the jury went in of 375,000.00 dollars. We declined that offer and made a counter that was not accepted.

My biggest concern with the whole thing is that the person least competent or informed to comment on this case went and made public statements. He couldn’t even get through his whole deposition.

Now, in regards to the case itself, we clearly showed that Clear Channel had internal notes and memo’s in direct conflict to what they testified to. The internal emails showed it and this is all public record, so it could all be verified that Clear Channel was looking to cut a deal with Vince McMahon on an A&E biography. They buried our project with the hopes of getting $900,000.00 for that program.  The one problem was that Vince McMahon had to commit to be a part of it.

The jury ignored what appeared to be pure contradiction in statements and ruled in favor of Clear Channel. The testimony given by former VP of Clear Channel Entertainment Television, Steve Sterling, in no way matched what he was saying via email in the year 2005. The only other former Clear Channel employee to testify – Dawn Olejar – also seemed to have very convenient memory in regards to what happened in 2005.

Bischoff can refer to anyone that he wants to as a bottom feeder. There really isnt much shame in that and he should hope not because in my opinion Bischoff would be nothing in the entertainment industry today without Hulk Hogan and Jason Hervey.

My future plan is to work on WrestleReunion 4 in Los Angeles. The tickets go on sale Saturday, the 19th, at 10am at www.wrestlereunion.com.
