Nick’s Pay-Per-Review: WWE Hell in a Cell 2009

World Heavyweight Championship Hell in a Cell Match: CM Punk (c) vs The Undertaker: Well, and I’m sure most won’t find this surprising, this was NOT the Hell in a Cell bout of the evening. This was hardly even a cage match. We reported last night that CM Punk is apparently in the dog house with WWE over an incident that happened during an overseas tour, and while we don’t know what that incident was as of now, it certainly felt like someone was being punished during the Punk bout last night. I tend to think it was me who was being punished because that is the match WWE gave me under the guise of Hell in a Cell, and it was anything but Hell in a Cell. I’m not sure why WWE felt the need to have Taker essentially squash Punk, as it effectively discredits Punk as a viable contender, and Smackdown NEEDS viable contenders right now, and it gives The Undertaker a belt he doesn’t really need at this point. I’m not sure where this feud is going, but to salvage Punk’s current momentum, it’s going to have to continue and end up with Punk getting the belt back sooner rather than later. Out of a possible 9 stars, I give Hell in a Cell’s opening contest 5 Stars.
