TNA House Show Results

Hattiesburg, Miss.

I attended a TNA show in Monroe LA last July and was highly disappointed. I was entering the show with low expectations. The arena was small but sold out and jam packed. I estimate between 1,500 and 2,000 people. I do not know exactly how many the arena would seat. Don West was at the merch table. He is fantastic with the merchandise!!! Kevin Nash was at the table signing autographs. Buy a $20 program and you can get an autograph. I guess he’s not as big on the cash anymore.

Jeremy Borash started the show. He pumped up the crowd with promises of backstage passes. A random guy from the back came to the ring and said AJ Styles does not want anyone backstage. Massive heat!!! Borash said he doesn’t care and he’s giving passes to the loudest fans. Time for opening match.

1. Motor City Machine Guns over Generation Me in approximately 12 minutes. I’ve only been to maybe eight live wrestling shows since Mississippi isn’t a regular stop. This was by far the hottest match I’ve seen live. All of the high flying you would expect. Crowd loved it. Machine Guns hit their double team finisher for the win. The Young Bucks received a standing ovation after the match. This is exactly what an opening match should do. Really set the bar. This match alone sold Destination X for me!!!

2. Tara defeated Daffney to retain TNA Women’s Championship in six minutes. Tara ran to the ring and immediately attacked Daffney. A short match, but they did a nice job entertaining the fans while saving some for Destination X. Tara won with a victory roll. No Widow’s Peak.

3. Doug Williams defeated Christopher Daniels and Homicide to retain X Division Championship in 8-10 minutes. Daniels received a great reaction from the crowd. Doug Williams received major heat. Most Mississippians are not too keen on foreigners, so easy heat for the Englishman. Homicide received no reaction, heel or face. A disappointing match. No real spots, which I guess is expected for a non-televised house show. Doug Williams rolled up Daniels from behind to get the win. Most of the real time was spent by Daniels and Homicide lobbying for pops.

4. Jeff Jarrett defeated Desmond Wolfe in about 12 minutes. Wolfe came out first and cuts a great heel promo. He informed us that we are Mississippi Morons and he will come beat the crap out of all of us if he needs to. I loved it!!!! Proof that this crowd is not an internet crowd; unison chant of "Let’s Go Jarrett" during the match. I tried to echo with "Let’s Go Desmond," but no one else joined! Desmond seemed to carry the match with his trademark technical style. Jarrett won by hitting the stroke. He was really over in Mississippi.

Intermission – Kids go backstage. Tara signed autographs in the lobby.
