Former WWE Employee On Goldberg Return, Orton Face Turn

MondayNightMayhem.com Interview highlights courtesy of The Mayhem’s official correspondent, Paterson From New Jersey:

The possibility/likelihood of Goldberg returning to the WWE for one final match at WrestleMania XXVII & not just a merchandising contract or induction into the WWE Hall Of Fame: “For one final match….anybody can come back for one final match. Is it a possibility? Of course! He’s in pretty terrific shape. I always thought that Bill, based on what I’ve read, his comments, & what I experienced with Bill, had a little contempt for the wrestling business, the way things went, & his experiences. Even simply the way he describes himself ‘going out to the ring in his underwear.’ You listen to Bill, and you kinda realize that in alot of ways, he’s not the biggest fan of wrestling. So what do you have? You have a guy selling a TV show (NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice”), and there’s probably an agreement to do a certain amount of publicity. Yeah, there’s a possibility we might see him in the ring one more time. Do I ever see him ever as a semi full-time performer again? No, I don’t see that in the realm of possibility. Bill’s very clear…he’s 43 years old now & his best days are behind him, but I do sense a bit of contempt even during our interview five months ago: not just of his time in the WWE, but also his time in WCW.”

Randy Orton challenging Jack Swagger for the World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules, his own personal foreshadowing about Orton since WrestleMania XXVI, & why the WWE cannot afford to lose Orton right now: “I wasn’t around in the business when Jack Swagger came along, but I’ve seen this kid for a total of about eight minutes, and I’m an actor. When an actor walks into a room, you could tell whether he’s an actor or not by the what comes out of their mouth & the way they move. I think maybe Swagger has possibly a partial part of the “it” factor, maybe not the total “iT” ala Orton, Cena, or Brock (Lesnar). Orton, on the other hand, is the future. Now a lot of this hinges on what’s gonna happen with Cena. Only a few short years ago, Cena had a serious neck injury, and serious neck tend to shorten careers. I’m not telling anybody now that I know something they don’t know that his career is going to be shortened, but there’s an outside chance if you read through the lines, that Cena might have some lingering physical issues. He’s been carrying the company on his back for years now as a face, so I think Orton’s ascension will depend on the health of Cena. If Cena is just ok & not in the greatest of shape, and bumps become less & less intense, his star is going to need to fade out a little bit, and they are going to need more of Orton, so maybe this is the beginning of more Orton. I think this is going to be a huge year for Orton. Now if he goes down with an injury, then what do you do? I can’t even imagine what the hell the WWE would do if Orton went down with a serious injury right now.

Lance Storm’s online commentary/blog about TNA’s use of unprotected chair shots to their performers (coming off the heels of last Monday night’s Rob Terry/Homicide TNA Global Championship Match) & why wrestlers/fans alike should listen to what Storm has to say: “There is speculation that Vince (McMahon) has damage to his back & that he is injured from the chair shots he took at WrestleMania XXVI. Apparently, some people have seen him & been around him, and he has been laying low since WrestleMania, and part of the speculation is that he took so many shots to the back that there might be an injury and/or pain & discomfort, and something might have happened to his 64-year-old ‘genetic jackhammer’ body. So are chairs dangerous? Yes, they are still dangerous today. Lance Storm in the business: he was a journeyman and was around for a long time, but he’s been doing his internet commentary for about seven or eight years now. So what I’m saying is he is a pretty smart, astute guy. If he is saying things & making comments abut anything today, I would listen to it. Chair shots are not perfect. It’s the nature of the business, and it is what it is. My point is chair shots are dangerous, and I believe in Lance Storm, and if he says beware…buyers should beware.”
