Exclusive: Update on the WWE Crew’s European Situation

According to a Justin Watson, who is close to the current situation involving the WWE crew in Europe, here is how the closure of UK airports may affect the WWE stars who are over there. Basically, on Wednesday night a volcano erupted in Iceland. The volcanic ash traveled thousands of miles into the air at the height air crafts fly, and because of the weather system the ash is drifting over the UK and other parts of northern Europe. If this ash gets into an airplane’s jet engine it can seriously damage it if not cause it to fail completely. As a result, some European countries have closed their air space and grounded all flights indefinitely.

The problem for WWE is that two of the countries that have done this are France and the UK. The Raw brand is currently in northern France and is wrapping up the tour tomorrow night and Saturday night with shows in Belfast. If air apace is closed they won’t be able to fly to Belfast. Experts are saying that this situation could continue well into the weekend which would not only affect the end of the WWE European tour but also the stars returning to the States.

My source spoke with the Odyssey Arena earlier and they said at the moment its touch and go with the shows. They said WWE is looking at other ways of getting the stars to Belfast including coach and ferries but if WWE were do this – between driving times, the increase in ferry passengers not to mention sailing times – it could be a 12 hour trip if their lucky. This would mean the guys would have to leave after the show in France tonight or very early tomorrow morning to even have a chance of making Belfast.
