John Cena Speaks In-Depth About Being Stranded In Belfast

The following is an excerpt from an article on John Cena from UTV Sport out of Ireland:

“We’ve had a fantastic stay here in Belfast,” Cena said – but he admitted even tough wrestler miss their families.

“I know, selfishly, all the WWE superstars wish they were home with their families but every night we kinda congregate and look at each other and say ‘Well, it could be a lot worse’ …

“We’re in a fantastic city – Belfast has just been overly gracious as a host to us and we’re making do. We certainly could have it a lot worse.”

Belfast had been the last stop on the latest WWE tour of the UK but, according to Cena, missing it was not an option.

“We said we’re gonna make it no matter what.

“So we did two shows at the Odyssey, two fantastic shows with a great response and we’ve been … vacationing here ever since,” he smiled.

“So it really is, it’s a great place to be. Lot of character here and it’s a fun – unscheduled – holiday for all of us.”

Stateside, the show went on with the WWE’s Smackdown roster filling in for their RAW counterparts – fans of Cena and Randy Orton had to be content with the stars’ appearance via satellite link from UTV.

“I actually was on the programme so, even though I wasn’t there in person, I made it there on tv and assured everyone that we would all be home – no matter what the circumstances – by the Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View which is on April 25.”

Cena added: “The Smackdown tour unfortunately had to cancel about two or three of their dates in an emergency effort to make it home – they just barely got out of Madrid before it got chaotic over there.

“But they did make and we had enough of a roster to make a live show for the folks in New Jersey last night.”

So what do major wrestling stars do when presented with some unexpected down-time?

“The group’s gone bowling, I actually played nine holes of golf yesterday …” Cena said.

“A couple of guys of us are thinking of possibly going mini-golfing, there’s been some expeditions to the movies … We really have made the most of the time.”
