Wade Barrett cut a promo talking about the long path he took to become the NXT Season 1 winner. He acknowledged when he and Drew McIntyre were the FCW tag team champs, talked about his run in with the Tampa Police Department, mentioned when he was out for 8 months with am injury and working as an announcer at that time, and his triumphant return when he attacked FCW champ Justin Gabriel. He then said he issued a challenge to the NXT season 2 roster to prove that none of them can beat him, and said Titus O’Neill accepted his challenge.

Match 4: Wade Barrett pinned Titus O’Neill

Kaval took the mic before the next match and discussed his injury issues and surprised the FCW Universe by saying that he considered retirement during his last injury time out. He said he came back for the FCW Universe and that he’s gonna take it to the next level and win NXT season 2, and that he can only do it if the FCW Universe takes the journey with him.

Big news from the show on page two …

Notes About The Show:

Jamie Keyes was the ring announcer for the evening and up and coming FCW talent Rhys Ali served as timekeeper.

The TV announce tandem was Matt Martlaro & Abraham Washington

Johnny Curtis is making huge strides to becoming a top babyface in FCW as the crowd was solidly behind him in his big win over Smackdown superstar Shad Gaspard. On a side note, there was no acknowledgement or follow up involving Gaspard’s attack of Eli Cottonwood last week for the NXT cameras.

Kaval’s first match in the FCW Arena in 4 months showed no ring rust as he fought a stiff battle with Drake Brewer.

The sign of the night was raised during the Gabriel/McGillicutty match… “Your New Name Sucks!”

The tag title match was an awesome war and a rare “Live Event” title change, but understandable as the Uso’s are being quickly transitioned to the Raw roster. A truly great match!

Prior to the main event, Caylen Croft came to the ring with Trent Baretta. Alex Riley then entered the ring and said he thought Croft would have Baretta in his corner, so he paid someone to be in his corner, then he brought out Curt Hawkins. After a few minutes of heavy involvement from Baretta and Hawkins, GM Norman Smiley came out and banned Baretta and Hawkins from ringside. He then, literally, dragged them both to the back by the ear.

Brett DiBiase was at the event on crutches with his knee wrapped and in a brace. My best wishes to Brett in a speedy recovery.

Roster talent noticeably absent from the show included AJ Lee, Alberto Banderas (now working WWE live events as Dos Caras), Big E. Langston, Bo Rotundo (injured), Byron Saxton, Cable Jones (injured), Darren Young, Derrick Bateman, Donny Marlow, Brodus Clay, Jackson Andrews, Jacob Novak, Leo Kruger, Mason Ryan, Richie Steamboat (injured), Rudy Parker, Vance Archer, and Wes Brisco.

It was announced that the main event of the June 9, 2010 FCW Live Event in Melborne, FL will be an NXT Rookies & Pro Tag Team Challenge – Christian & Heath Slater vs The Miz & Daniel Bryan. Those four along with Jamie Noble will also be signing autographs prior to the show.
