WWE House Show Results (6/6): Indianapolis, Indiana

WWE Smackdown house show
Indianapolis, Ind. at Conseco Fieldhouse
Report by Brian Figueiredo and www.ProWrestling.net

It has been several years since the WWE has just had a house show in Indianapolis. They do Raw or Smackdown TV here a few times a year but having to go to work the next day after spending three to four hours at a wrestling show is draining to this 42 year old fan. Anyhow, onto the results.

1. Christian beat Dolph Ziggler in the opening match with the Killswitch. Hornswoggle came out post match and hit the tadpole splash on Ziggler.

Straight Edge Society members Luke Gallows and mystery hooded man (Joey Mercury?) and Serena attacked Christian in the aisle way and came to the ring to issue an open challenge.

2. Kane beat Luke Gallows and the mystery SES member in a handicap match. Kane answered the challenge and beat both men in a handicap match.

Rosa Mendez came out as the guest host and selected a child as the guest bell ringer.

3. Layla beat Tiffany by pinfall. Afterwards, she started to beat down on Tiffany and Kelly Kelly came to the rescue.

4. Fit Finlay defeated Heath Slater. Before the match, NXT runner up Heath Slater came out and cut a heel promo. Finlay then came out. They had a decent match that I believe Finlay won.

5. Kofi Kingston defended the IC title against Drew McIntyre. McIntyre cut a promo talking about his birthday being today and complaining about Matt Hardy (foreshadowing a run in, I hoped) He then started singing Happy Birthday to Me and got cut off by Kofi’s entrance music. Kofi won a decent match. The finish looked botched to me.

Post Match: McIntyre beat down Kofi then Matt Hardy ran out and did the Side Effect to McIntyre and ran to the back. Then when McIntyre was leaving the ring Hardy ran back out and threw him back into the ring and hit a Twist of Fate. When McIntyre got up from the Twist of Fate he took Kofi’s Trouble in Paradise spinning heel kick. That led to intermission.

After intermission NXT runner up Justin Gabriel came out and cut a heel promo. Chavo Gurrero came out to a face reaction. When did Chavo turn face??

6. Chavo Guerrero defeated Justin Gabriel. They had a pretty even match. Chavo hit the 3 suplex’s. Gabriel went up for the 450 splash but met with Chavo’s knees. Chavo then scored the pin with the Frog Splash.

7. MVP beat Cody Rhodes. A good match.

8. Jack Swagger defeated C.M. Punk, Big Show, and Rey Mysterio in a fatal four-way match to retain the World Hvt. Championship. I liked the four-way because there was always action in the ring, no long headlocks or arm-bars. Swagger came out first. CM Punk then came out and cut a promo on Indianapolis being nothing but a toilet break between his hometown of Chicago and — (Big Show’s Music cut him off) Mysterio was the last out.

The match ended with Mysterio hitting the 619 on CM Punk but Swagger throwing out Mysterio and scoring the pinfall on Punk. Big Show and Mysterio beat down on Swagger to send the fans home happy.

A return date of September 20 was announced for a Monday Night Raw broadcast. With intermission the show lasted 2.5 hours.
