Big Main Event Announced For ROH Event in Chicago

There are some people who were born to be professional wrestlers and simply love the thrill of competing against someone who will challenge them and take them to their limit.

On April 3rd at “The Big Bang” in Charlotte, NC Davey Richards was victorious in his match against Kenny King. Following the bout, “The Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels, one of ROH’s founding fathers, made a shocking return to Ring of Honor and confronted Richards. Daniels said he had fought seventeen years to make his name synonymous with the moniker “best in the world”, and stated that he was back in ROH to prove that he is the best and not Richards. Daniels then challenged Richards to a one on one match.

This was the dream match up that everyone wanted to see and as months went by both Richards and Daniels have continued to dominate the competition. They battled in a tag team bout on HDNet, with The American Wolves beating Daniels & Roderick Strong, but have never crossed paths one-on-one…UNTIL NOW! Six months after the challenge was made, ROH officials have officially signed Davey Richards vs. Christopher Daniels in the main event on ROH’s return to Chicago Ridge, IL on October 16th.

There is plenty on the line as both Richards and Daniels are top contenders for the ROH World Title currently held by Roderick Strong and both think they are the “best wrestler in the world”. Richards has a Championship Match scheduled at “Final Battle 2010” on December 18th in NYC but with the amount of impressive wins “The Fallen Angel” has received over the last few months, it is only a matter of time before he is granted an ROH Title Match.

Christopher Daniels is truly an ROH original, competing in the main event of the first show back on February 23, 2002 in a triple threat match against Low Ki and “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson. Since that time Daniels has traveled the world earning various championships yet never the Ring of Honor World Title. Still there are many followers of his gospel that claim Daniels as the “best wrestler in the world”.

Davey Richards debuted in Ring of Honor over four years ago on June 3, 2006 at the “Destiny” event, and since then has built his reputation as possibly the most aggressive, well rounded pro wrestler in competition today. Richards too has traveled the world over and earned many championships but, as the case with Daniels, he never claimed the Ring of Honor World Title. Still, a great deal of the ROH faithful stand as members of the pack that hoist Richards up as the “best wrestler in the world”.

On October 16th, 2010 in Chicago Ridge, IL the two greatest wrestlers in ROH to never hold the World Title will battle in a match that has all the makings of a classic.
