The story, which says UFC President Dana White has a tough decision to make about Tito’s future in UFC since “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” has now lost 4 fights in a row, contains an interesting quote from Paul Heyman.
According to the former ECW owner and WWE Smackdown head writer, “UFC has RANDY COUTURE, CHUCK LIDDELL, and Tito under contract. These fighters are enormous personalities in the history of the sport’s explosion. Couture is the good will ambassador … Liddell is the personality so many people want to meet for on-sales, and special appearances, and opening new international markets … and Tito is still someone with a lot to offer the promotion in terms of analysis, breakdowns of the fighters’ strengths and weaknesses, backstage interviewer, expert opinion. As UFC expands, there will be more of a need for digital programming, online blogs, differing opinions to Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan. While Dana White may not want Tito in the Octagon much longer if at all, Tito has a lot to offer … and not just to keep him away from Strikeforce, Showtime, and CBS. There is still significant value in Tito Ortiz!”
