Report: Why WGN Canceled Superstars, WWE Cuts Expected

PWInsider.com is reporting that WGN America decided to cancel WWE Superstars because they were apparently displeased with the quality of the show.

WGN felt that it was paying "B" or "C" show type money and was getting a "D" quality show. When the show originally debuted on WGN back in 2008, the network was hoping to get a show on par with Raw or Smackdown, and the hope was that Superstars would boost the ratings of Chicago-based network. Initially, the show featured top level stars like John Cena, Edge, Randy Orton, etc, but as of late it has been reduced to a show that features talent who don’t regularly appear on Raw or Smackdown.

It’s also being said that due to last quarters low financial numbers, combined with the cancellation of Superstars, WWE officials have discussed cutting low level talent after Wrestlemania in order to save money.
