John Cena Doesn’t Think He’ll Ever Use The Word ‘Retire’, Says He’s Gotten ‘Accidental Boners’ In The Ring

John Cena says he might be slowing things down in the ring, but he doesn’t think he’ll ever use the word ‘retire’ when it comes to his WWE career.

Cena was on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen (and guest Laura Linney) this week, and he was asked about possibly calling it quits as far as his in-ring career is concerned. Cena said he can see himself being involved with WWE in some way, and hopes he can contribute more as a mentor as well:

“That’s a tough question because I don’t think I’ll ever be disconnected from the WWE. Whether it’s an on-camera role or an off-camera role, I don’t think the word ‘retire’ I’ll ever use that. So I know that time is limited because it’s a physical, performance-based thing, and I’m 42, so I know that window is kind of coming to a close—but I don’t think I’ll ever be retired. I would love to be able to pass on the knowledge and wisdom that I have about live performances to up-and-comers and hopefully help people out.”

Cena also recently spoke with TMZ, telling them he’s “been having the same conversation with myself” about hanging it up, but said it’s up to the individual to make that decision.

On a lighter note, Cena also said he’s gotten an “accidental boner” during a match before, but said it’s just something that happens. A fan email question during the show asked Cena if he’d ever gotten too ‘excited’ in the ring, and Cena said:

“It’s something the body does, you just ignore it. Just ignore it. It’s what the body does. You can’t be blamed for that.”

Other clips from the show include Cena talking about how much time he spends shaving his body hair, his least attractive quality, and an episode of ‘Behind The Cena’ where he admits what makes him all mushy inside. Check out the clips below:
