How 50 Cent Inspired John Cena’s Iconic ‘You Can’t See Me’ Hand Gesture

John Cena was recently on The Graham Norton Show to promote his new film Bumblebee, and he was asked by the eccentric talk show host about how he came up with his “You Can’t See Me” hand gesture. It turns out that it has an appropriately rap-themed origin consider Cena’s career and gimmick as a rapper early on.

Cena revealed that his brother imitated a dance he had seen in 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” music video (seen above), where Tony Yayo bops his head while his hand is in front of his face. Cena’s brother did this while John was making his theme music, and that inspired the future WWE Champion to use it on television with a twist.
