NJPW Star Taka Michinoku Apologizes For Alleged Extramarital Affair, K-Dojo Making Decision Soon

Earlier today Japanese magazine FLASH (via IT Media) revealed that former WWF Light Heavyweight Championship and current New Japan Pro-Wrestling athlete Taka Michinoku had been having an extramarital affair. According the the magazine, the affair started in 2011 and has continued since then for the past eight years. Affairs are a big deal in Japan, and this will likely have an impact on both Kaientai Dojo (which was founded by Michonoku) and NJPW (where he has been a part of the Suzuki-gun stable since 2011).

In his apology (which was posted both on his social media and Kaientai Dojo’s website) Michinoku states that he accepts the scolding that will come from fans, and that he will “try to cherish” his family in the future. He ‘s very sorry for the inconvenience to the fans and said that he takes blame for his thoughtless actions. As such, he’s ready to accept any punishment that Kaientai Dojo dishes out in the near future.

So far, NJPW has not commented yet on the transgression, although they set a precedent when they suspended Taichi for two months with a 30% pay cut for having an affair in 2014. If this happens to Michinoku then it’s likely that he will miss the Wrestle Kingdom event in January.
