WWE Crown Jewel Reportedly Still On As Scheduled

Although some information (including venue location and ticketing information) was unavailable via WWE’s website, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the controversial upcoming Saudi Arabian Crown Jewel show is still scheduled as planned.

According to Meltzer,

“WWE has noted that Crown Jewel should be listed on their schedule.”

Meltzer also tweeted the following:

David Bixenspan of Deadspin reached out to a WWE spokesman, who told him that the event was removed in error and should still technically be listed on the site.

Bixenspan tweeted the following:

For what it’s worth, if anything about Crown Jewel *was* removed from WWE dot com, a WWE spokesman is telling me that it would be in error. “The event should be listed.”

So let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

There's still a Crown Jewel event page under "shows." It doesn't have an entry on the "tickets and live events" page, but it didn't when I looked last week when I was writing my article, either. (I looked on either Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning.)

As of press time, WWE Crown Jewel is still expected to take place as planned from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 2nd. This is despite the disappearance and reported assassination of Washington Post Journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the pleas of several U.S. Senators, who are urging the WWE to reconsider their relationship with Saudi Arabia.

WWE has issued a short statement claiming to be monitoring the situation. The company has also announced two Crown Jewel World Cup Qualifying Matches for tomorrow night’s RAW.
