MLW Middleweight Champion MJF Explains Why He Is ‘Talent Over Tenure’, Shares The Cold Hard Facts About His Skills

MLW Middleweight Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman recently spoke with Wrestlezone’s Kevin Kellam while promoting next week’s MLW TV tapings at the Melrose Ballroom in New York. You can read a few transcribed highlights and listen to the interview below:

It’s pretty simple there, bud. When you’ve been sitting there in a locker room and you’re wrestling for 20 years, and you try to walk up to me and give me techniques and advice… I’m not interested in what you have to say, pal! In under three years, I’ve accomplished more than most people have done in 20.

There’s no one that can give me criticism, there’s no one that can give me advice, because no one has risen to the top at such a meteoric pace and level like I have in the history of this business. So, that’s what talent over tenure means. There is no advice you can give me—on the microphone, I’m mint, in the ring, I’m mint. There is literally no advice you can give me. I’m the best promo in wrestling today, and I am among the best wrestlers bell-to-bell today.

You can come at me with any style, whether it’s technical, whether it’s high flying; sometimes if I want to take to the air I can. Whether it’s powerhouse moves—I can be a bit of a ‘hoss’ myself—there is literally nothing that I cannot do. It’s just facts. Cold hard facts.

MJF also talks about his relationship with Aria Blake, MLW’s upcoming shows in Chicago, his future goals and more. MLW will be at the Melrose Ballroom in New York on Thursday, October 4th.
