Isenberg Reacts: WWE NXT “A New Era Begins and a Glorious One Ends”

Goodbye Roode, Hello Adam Cole

There was plenty to discuss regarding WWE NXT this week. First, Drew McIntyre came out and cut a great promo about being the champion and wanting his competition to face him like a man if they want a title match. Roderick Strong comes out and talks about his family and how he is going to get that NXT Championship. Tonight, he has to worry about Bobby Roode.

Roode and Strong was great, just as good as their championship match a few months ago. With Roderick Strong, he continues to improve on the mic and uses his excellent ring skill set to get over with the NXT Universe. He reminds me of a Daniel Bryan/Sami Zayn combination, which can be a really great thing or a really average thing.

Bobby is now going to be Smackdown Live’s biggest opportunity. Let him thrive and shine, hopefully able to move up the ranks sooner rather than later. If I am WWE, AJ Styles vs. Bobby Roode is a feud that makes sense. Bobby Roode should want to make the United States Championship “glorious” again.

Drew comes out on stage, but was attacked by Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish. We saw Sanity taken out earlier in the night, with a dark shadow of men walking away. A DDT on the stage from Cole lets the group get the last laugh, runs out of the arena and chased by William Regal. Doesn’t it feel like an NWO type feel? These guys, who were so successful in ROH and NJPW come to WWE NXT and make three vicious assaults immediately. They are going to be the featured spotlight over the next few months and I would not let them wrestle until the next Takeover. Let their debuts (Aside from Kyle and Bobby’s random matches) happen at Takeover, with a new group that is wreaking havoc on all parts of the NXT roster.
